 Healing the Soul

In attempting to heal the human personality, we have witnessed a rift between psychology and spirituality for generations. The two have been at opposite polarities and now with the Jungian, Transpersonal and 12 Step models, it is becoming evident that this separation can be further from the truth. Lasting healing can occur when an individual’s psychological and spiritual health can be seen as one.   What seems to be required to change behavior is to change the motivations that effect behavior.  Long term mental and emotional health requires more than a temporary reduction of symptoms.  What seems to be required is a higher consciousness, or a spiritual intelligence, from which a larger sense of self can be derived.   The word psyche comes from the Greek word which means soul.

The purpose of Souldrama is to align the ego and soul so that one can be on their higher purpose. Souldrama® is a seven stage group action model for spiritual transformation. Souldrama offers seven stages, or doorways, of spiritual growth and transformation.  As a Group Action Process, Souldrama helps you: overcome roadblocks in careers and relationships, create new roles in your life, release the light and peacefulness within the core of your being, illuminate your spiritual gifts, and recognize as well as define your higher purpose in life. It spurs the soul into action bringing forth its spontaneity and creativity.  This process moves us from our Rational Intelligence (what I think) to our Emotional Intelligence (what I feel) and Spiritual Intelligence (what I am) so that we can integrate all three intelligences in our lives, live in the present and access our higher consciousness.

The process of Souldrama is akin to a pilgrimage or rite of passage. The common elements are to (1) Accept the challenge to journey for a specific purpose (2) Find the faith and truth in one's vision needed to set out (3) Learn how to invoke the strength of spirit and perseverance (4) Listen and allow the soul to speak and work through you (5) Overcome the obstacles that slow you down (6) To perform the appropriate rituals and connect with the transcendent self at the destination of the pilgrimage (7) To return to one's home community, bringing back enlightenment and blessings.

When you step through each doorway, you will uncover a challenge within yourself to overcome before you can open the next one.  With the completion of each stage comes the gift of illumination, a glimpse of your authentic self, to bring with you to light the way on your journey of self-discovery.  Each door will lead you to a higher state of spiritual development: doors One and Two move you beyond your Rational Intelligence, doors Three and Four past your Emotional Intelligence, and doors Five and Six lead to your Spiritual Intelligence. Door Seven is the integration and transformation of all three along with the wisdom and knowledge of the process, your inner journey...your life's purpose.

Course Description

In these times of crisis, more spirituality is needed as well as faith in the human element.  Souldrama®, recognized as one of the new advances in psychodrama, Souldrama is a therapeutic, psychospiritual group action model that leads participants through seven sequential stages of spiritual development with the goal of accessing our spiritual intelligence.  Similar to taking a pilgrimage, Souldrama can help group members move past resistance to recognizing and moving on to their higher purpose and life. We all have the collective responsibility of continuing the works of our creator to become all that we can be and not be limited by the cultural conserves of society.  Psychodrama makes the expansion of reality possible by methods not used in life.  Souldrama takes this one step further by providing a circular model and structure to integrate through all three intelligences to align the ego and soul.  This workshop will show how this new model can help group members move past resistance to recognize and move on to their higher purpose, therefore creating spiritually intelligent leadership.

Both spiritual and psychotherapeutic growth requires the building of transitional space within which to do necessary integrative work. Transitional space is a personal space between security (secure attachment) and autonomy (freedom to explore), and can be one of harmonious balance or of terrifying chaos. This is provided on the stage of psychodrama and the structure of souldrama offers a transpersonal journey to help us become spiritually intelligent leaders.

Trauma can help us to grow and to have positive outcomes from overcoming adversity.Post traumatic growth can be associated with positive religious coping, religious openness, readiness to face existential questions, religious participation and intrinsic religiousness. The more we can explore our relationship with the divine, the more we can search for our higher potential. This involves looking at our internalized image of the divine. Tedeschi and Calhoun(1996) developed the Post traumatic Growth Inventory to measure the positive or negative changes resulting from traumatic experience. Five separate domains were identified: New Possibilities, Relating to Others,Personal Strength, Appreciation for life, and Spiritual Change. Souldrama can help the help the individual experience growth in one or more domains.
