Souldrama- October 11-14, 2019 The Original Moreno Stage
The Original Moreno Stage
How can Group Therapy help my patients and help me build my practice?
We will introduce you to the value of exposing your patients to action methods in both group and individual therapy.
We will explore new things you may learn about your patients by observing the way they interact with their group mates in action.
We will help you learn how to run experiential groups in your practice.
What if you could offer your patients an additional way to find meaning and connection in their lives? Join us to take a look at how group can greatly enhance your practice, whether you work in an agency or private practice setting.
Psychodrama is an experiential approach to working with groups and individuals. The essence of psychodrama is the principle 'don't tell me, show me.' It offers a way to re-experience events from the past and even re-create new endings. Psychodrama provides clients a safe place to try out new roles and recovery behaviors. Action methods help people connect with and express frozen feelings. They encourage creativity and strengthen self-efficacy. They dovetail beautifully with many of the issues that clients bring to treatment for chemical dependency and other additions: resistance, emotional disconnection, low self-esteem, ambivalence, lack of hope about the future, and isolation.
WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
Identify ways that action methods and souldrama can integrate psychology and spirituality to lower resistance and enhance the effectiveness of group work.
Learn 3 simple techniques to help connect new group members.
Receive additional ideas for working with action methods, especially with clients with addictions; local practitioners who offer training or in serves for your staff; and further references
Learn how to integrate spirituality and psychology to remove resistance with your clients.
Partipants will begin to direct dramas if they wish!
Boughton Place
Boughton Place is a ten minute drive from both the NYS Thruway and the Mid-Hudson Bridge in Highland. Near the Hudson Valley's newest tourist attraction, the Walkway Over the Hudson, we are within walking distance from the newly expanded Hudson Valley Rail Trail! Proximate to all Ulster County tourist destinations, we are easily reached by Metro-North and Adirondack Trailways.
Home to the renowned Moreno stage, the Boughton Place property hosts two main buildings on four acres in addition to our Wellness Cottage. We have many workshop and classroom spaces, kitchens, a large screened porch, and landscaped grounds which can be used for events, workshops, and hospitality.
The Moreno stage, recognized as a vital symbol of the worldwide psychodrama community, also serves as a great venue for performance arts; theater music, dance, poetry recitals, and more. Our theater, which can accommodate an audience of 65, lends itself to intimate performances and has wonderful acoustics.
A distinguishing feature of Boughton Place is its ability to host overnight accommodations. Our two main buildings offer guest lodging, making us a unique venue for not only Ulster County and Hudson Valley arts and multidisciplinary programs, but for those from the greater NY Metropolitan area and elsewhere. This residential component deeply enhances programs that want to provide multi-day and evening immersion experiences for participants. We offer 14 beds, but can accommodate many more. There are three full bathrooms and two half-baths (and an outdoor shower), two fully supplied kitchens, a large covered porch ideal for gathering for meals, a gazebo, and beautifully landscaped grounds. A labyrinth on the grounds is currently being restored.Boughton Place is a ten minute drive from both the NYS Thruway and the Mid-Hudson Bridge in Highland.
